I had a wonderful experience at Barbers Point Flight School. I am a 41-year old career changer with a childhood dream to become a pilot one day. I was on the waitlist at BPFS for awhile and it was my first pick in a flight school since I grew up here. Before almost pulling the trigger on a program in Florida, I got a call from Ricky at BPFS that a spot just opened up in late January to start that Monday. Ricky is an awesome instructor and knows the islands like the back of his hand. Super knowledgeable, experienced, and held me at a high standard throughout my training for the PPL. I had the privilege of flying with a couple other instructors as well since I was training at an accelerated pace. Everyone was excellent and very professional. I felt safe at all times and they have an immaculate safety record. BPFS does progressive maintenance checks on their planes every 50 hours instead of the FAA 100-hour minimum and they have their own maintenance team. Everyone at the school was friendly and helped to foster a nice aviation community. As the only flight school at JRF Barbers Point, it was easy to find a place in the pattern at any given time which I felt was a huge advantage in flight training. Big shoutout to Mikey, Jared, Blake, Kai, Peter, Stone, Clarence, Christine, Anuhea, Troy, DPE John and especially my instructor Ricky who was always encouraging, patient, and making sure I became a safe pilot! Mahalo you guys!!

I started flying at Barbers Point Flight School roughly two years ago and it has been great. I started here with my private pilot license but had to take an 8 month pause due to military obligations. My instructor Troy Slade worked around this very well and we picked up training again as soon as I came back. His grounds and flights were very well structured and prepared me for my checkride. I highly recommend flying at Barbers Point Flight School.

My experience with Barbers Point Flight School was great. The maintenance team is unmatched, always on top of repairs and anything that needs to be done on the aircraft. My instructors Troy and Gavin both are awesome, and I can thank them enough for all of the hard work they put in and everything they taught me. I am so grateful for the opportunity to get my license through BPFS 🤙🏼 highly recommend.

There is no better place for flight training on Oahu! Hands down the best flight school on the island! Impeccable business ethics and knowledgeable instructors. Very reasonable rates. Compared to other schools in the area, this place can accomodate irregular schedules, there are no monthly membership fees and the fleet of airplanes is newer and much better maintained. Highly recommend Troy as an instructor. He has wealth of knowledge and tons of patience. And, most importantly, he genuinely loves his occupation. Overall great experience and lots of fun flying at this phenomenal place. You'll enjoy chill learning environment and safe airplanes.

I was on the waitlist for a while and when I got a call from the school with availability I was with Barbers Point flight school for months. Well worth the wait! My CFI Troy was very flexible, communicative, knowledgeable, and has teaching style that will bring you confidence in flying. Would highly recommend this school and if you plan on flying here I wouldn’t fly with anyone else beside Troy 🤙
