There will come times in your life when you must make the necessary sacrifices to start in the front seat. Everyone's journey is defined by their challenges. Harold puts up a good fight but with a good heart. I can't say it ever gets easier. When wheels up, the wheels in the sky keep turning.

I flew with Harold in August of 2024 and earned my Commercial Multi-Engine Land. We had some weather to contend with during the week and even on the Check Ride. Harold is a wealth of knowledge and while he can be firm he is fair. He ultimately wants to produce competent pilots. It was everything I expected and more. Realize it is an accelerated course and even if you prepare before you arrive there is a lot to take in. Excellent experience at Dramstad! I got there on Monday and walked out on Friday with my CMEL. Harold is an excellent MEI with thousands of hours of experience, which shows how he teaches. I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer, and I still got it done in 5 days because of Harold. The plane cosmetically doesn’t look the prettiest, but mechanically, it’s sound. I never once had a problem with maintenance while there. This is also the cheapest way to get your multi. Harold’s pricing is more than fair. I drove up to Helena from Utah, stayed at a hotel all week, and still spent less than I would’ve to stay here in Utah to get my multi. 10/10. I would recommend anyone who wants top-notch instruction at an affordable rate to call Dramstad Flying!

Harold is a good instructor and has a great process and flow with the resources necessary to help you get a multi engine rating done quickly and very cost effectively. He’s a conscientious business owner who does his best to make sure that you’re taken care of. He even loaned me a vehicle for the week which was a big help. (It’s an old beater but beats walking!) N3301P, their current multi trainer is in rough shape(even as old planes go…) and could use a large investment in maintenance or outright replacement, but the issues we had were able to be fixed in a somewhat timely manner since they have the shop on site. The waiting game, back and forth, uncertainty with parts and whatnot got a bit frustrating at times, but they have lots of spares so patience is key. There is a multi engine BATD simulator that can be used during the down time and is worth trying. They do have one engine and one fuel bladder being overhauled as of 10/14/22 so hopefully those get completed and installed and reliability improves. Communication is a bit sparse, make sure to get your arrival plans arranged during business hours as there’s no call forwarding after hours, and make sure to pay in advance throughout your flying to get the 10% bonus that he does. With future maintenance improvements, combined with everything else they have going for them, I think it’s worth considering Dramstad for your multi (and other ratings).
