I recently completed my Private Pilot certification at ACES in Rock Hill and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience. I initially started at another Part 61 flight school in the area and due to their instructor turnover, I needed to find another flight program that could get me to the finish line. Working a full-time job while attempting to move through the various requirements is no easy task, but credit to ACES for helping me reach this goal. Kevin was able to match me with an absolutely phenomenal instructor in Matt Cheney, and we were able to pick up right where I left off. Matt guided me through each phase of flight training, both in the air and on the ground. Even though he had a busy schedule with other students, Matt went above and beyond to help me prepare for the written exam and the check ride. I honestly couldn't have done this without my instructor, and I found all of the instructors at ACES to be top notch folks. Also, I have to give credit to the maintenance team, and Noah in particular. Noah was always super helpful in ensuring that the aircraft was ready for flight, whether heating or deicing the plane during cool weather, fixing an issue quickly with a plane, or even efficiently moving through a 100-hour inspection to have the plane ready for my check ride. Noah and the maintenance team deserve high praise! Overall, I found the ACES team to be like a small family, working as a close group to help students get through the program. I couldn't have been more pleased by the level of service and professionalism, and I will certainly look to continue with ACES for my Instrument rating. Working with Aces has exceeded my expectations. I started flying there in 2023, completed my PPL and instrument check rides, and continue to work towards my commercial license with them. My instructor, Matt Cheney is a rockstar and set me up for success every step of the way. The owner, Kevin, has been super helpful and offers some of the best rates around. After calling around to local pilot training companies, I decided to settle on Aces after reading all the reviews. Completed my discovery flight with Scott M., and he was amazing. Very informative, provided easy instructions, and made the whole process enjoyable. It didn't take me long to decide to continue pursuing my private pilots license with him. Scott and Aces makes the hour drive worth it to attend a pilot training company with awesome staff. Highly recommend Scott and Aces. And looking for to completing my pilots license as it's been a childhood dream of mine.

I’ve been with ACES for about 8 months now. I was able to pass my PPL checkride on my first try! Big shoutout to my instructor Matt C. He made sure I kept on at it and was in the books when I was getting distracted. ACES is not only a flight school but a family as well. There were times where I would sit in the FBO and talk to other students/instructors for hours. Everyone is so welcoming and helpful in their own ways. I’m so glad I was able to accomplish this first dream, I’ll continue to use them for the rest of my training. Thanks!

I chose ACES Flight Training to pursue my Commercial Pilot’s License and I’m so glad I found this school. I achieved my commercial license on the first try! My primary instructor, Matt Stierhoff was knowledgeable, helpful, patient, and an overall wonderful guy. I also had a flight with Jacob which was excellent and got to know many of the other CFIs in the school. All were super friendly. The planes are a nice mix of Cessna 172s and Piper Cherokees. The planes are older, which is typical for a Part 61 flight school, but they keep adding planes to the fleet. The important thing is that they are well maintained, and the head mechanic makes sure that when a plane goes down for maintenance, it returns to the fleet quickly and safely. I can’t recommend this school enough if you are interested in pursuing your pilot’s license, instrument license or commercial license.
