Sherri is unprofessional and disrespectful to customers and fellow employees. Based on the interactions I witnessed this seems to be well known at this business. To me this means someone at the business is enabling her bad behavior or is unwilling to stop it. Overall, Sherri was one the more miserable people I've interacted with in a while. I will never go back.

I have been to Rick Aviation twice. The first time was to check out the flight school prior to beginning my PPL and the second time was to take my instrument pilot written exam. My background is from professional organizations including the tip of the spear for the military, and Rick aviation absolutes reeks of the 5 dysfunctions of a team. There are certain people that work in the office (who are the first impression when you visit) and their attitudes and demeanor are unfriendly, they bicker openly, complain about students, and while taking my test, they were banging on a toilet and cussing out loud. Those office workers never favored a look at their instructors because I knew the unprofessionalism from the office would seep into the attitudes of the instructors. The proximity and convenience to Newport News and Hampton is not worth the headache of such a dysfunctional team. From a leadership standpoint, if you want to fix your organization, read the 5 dysfunctions of a team, take a week off from training students, and teach/discuss/learn as a group, fire the people who stand out in a negative manner. Those people are costing you money and setting a terrible precedent for the professional nature of impressionable young pilots. I chose to knock out my ground school online for both PPL and IFR, and I am incredibly thankful I chose Williamsburg flight center.

Rick Aviation is an outstanding flight school! If you have aspirations to become a pilot, this is a one stop shop that can get you to that goal. The aircraft fleet is well maintained, aircraft rental prices & availability are great, and the people who make up the Rick Aviation team are outstanding. This place sets the standard for quality flight training.
