Yellow enclosed-cabin gyroplane in flight against a clear blue sky

Glossary

What is relative wind?

The airflow meeting the wing, described from the wing's point of view. It runs exactly opposite to the flight path, so it follows where the airplane is actually going rather than where the nose happens to be pointing.

Also called Relative airflow

That is the whole entry for now. The longer version, with the mechanics and worked examples, is still to be written. See autorotation for how those read once they exist.
