My experience with this university has been truly horrendous. I originally admitted as an MSW student as part of a grant program for social work. Shortly after admission into the program, the grant lost funding but the department was unreachable and non-communicative, despite being a graduate student who had quit my job and entered into the program full time under the assumption of tuition assistance. Then I switched to pre-nursing classes since the social work department didn't have it together and had an equally disappointing experience with the Bio-science department. Professors ignoring emails all semester, errors in quizzes, typos all over the place, very low-quality video lectures, lectures inconsistent with textbook, lab instructors dismissing incorrectly labeled models. I would call various offices for questions throughout the semester and get no answer, no return call. I would go into offices to try and reach someone and they appeared abandoned. This place is truly a colossal let down, and expensive to boot. If you have any opportunities to go out of state (or if you are considering moving here from the L48), do yourself a favor and pursue a high quality university with quality instructors; visit Alaska for some other reason. I am an A student and genuinely love to learn, but the folks running this place are seemingly doing so against their will, and you can feel the crumbling of this institution in every nook and cranny.

Well I traversed over there to check out the esports lounge and eyes were wondering and saw this ad for a rave, first one like ever in my life, and a big thank you to the organization that threw the music jamble.

Graduated in 90" with an associate degree in human services. 4.0 GPA. Does the school have problems. Yes I would say it has the same problems that you get at any university. The parking is very poor and they will ticket you for the slightest offense rather than work with you. I got several as a student worker with a sign that identified me as a delivery driver for staff and they ticketed my car and the school department would pay them. They don't provide on campus busses and they should because the campus is large especially in winter when they pile up snow in any place they can. Staff was great and I was able to work with the department of human services. So I ended up working for my instructors which was fun. I was also on parole while attending and they were good at keeping that under the hat. I used the degree but as a tool to manage staff and hired help both as a captain on the family fishing boat but also in my computer company that I owned for 7 years before selling it to a co-worker. He lasted about 4 months before he had to close it with lawsuits following him. I still do interventions with people who know that I can do interventions. Same with the computer customers even though I don't have a company. I ended my career as a purchasing agent spending 3 million a year for a fleet of catcher/processors in Dutch from a Seattle company. Be sure that you are going to an accredited course before you sign up. They have a problem in that department. Also watch for instructors who are biased or even bigoted. I had to help a student who missed the same amount of time from a weekend course that I missed but she wasn't getting passed and I was so I wrote out a complaint against the instructor who I knew by way of a friend. She wasn't being truthful and she got in trouble for it bigly.

The place is Pretty solid, it’s amazing how we have a university here, but it doesn’t have many bus stops, one for the entire campus, which is pretty big considering walking in winter.

If you're a working adult and want to take classes then have a look at night classes at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA). If you're out of high school and plan to live with friends or your parents then you can't beat the convenience of a local campus. Online classes aren't for everyone, so consider UAA for the traditional higher education experience. I wish the University Center was located on main campus, but space is an issue around UAA. Checkout the new buildings on campus and some of the upgrades to the older buildings. During the summer this campus looks beautiful with all the flowers. Sadly finding food on campus is nearly impossible, so bring your lunch and relax at one of the many picnic tables. If this review was helpful please click the Like button.
