I soloed in 1970 at golden state flying club with Steve Mason. The club was on the other side of the field. The new C-150 was $13 an hour. Being in high school I had to rent the older 150 at $11 An hour. Steve Mason was an excellent instructor.

Great place. They taught me to fly, then years later I came in just for a glass of water on my walk and they let me just chill and look at the planes for a while before continuing my walk 🫶

Fantastic! Extremely friendly and helpful. Super knowledgeable. 100 LL priced $1.00 lower than competitor. Insisted on driving us to air and space museum on the other side of the field and then hosted a barbecue (every 6 weeks or so), while refusing all offers of payment. NOAA sectionals for sale (you rarely see that any more!). I cannot say enough good things about Golden State Aviation.
