There is a significant amount of nepotism at this location between the regional TSS and her son, who is one of the CFIs. Furthermore, this regional TSS is one of the more aggressive external pressures I have personally come across in aviation, not just ATP. So much so, that I decided to walk away from the program because of it. There are plenty of other ATP locations to attend in the Chicago land area, and I do appreciate ATP (5 star Google reviewed the KSDL location), however, the regional TSS makes this a relatively toxic location that warrants a public review. Regardless, to any potential student pilots considering ATP…NEVER let external pressures influence your decisions to fly safely. It’s never worth it and ATP’s “approval” should be the last thing on your mind. Stay safe, always.

This will be an honest review of my training at ATP flight school. The best thing about ATP are the instructors and the students, they are the ones who make training fun. That’s where everything stops. Everyone in the upper management at ATP seems like they don’t consider their instructors nor their students as people but rather as numbers. They have no sympathy for people, just money. They literally make their students and instructors write 5 star review on google by throwing a “pizza party”. The training staff at DPA (won’t mention any name’s) has no idea on how to perform his duties and relies on instructors and students for answers, when it should be the other way around. I’ve heard personally from the upper management say that ATP doesn’t make “the best pilots”, so take that as you will. ATP needs to work on their morals because they simple don’t have any, the management should spend the money on training their people on ethics and morals. If i could rate the students and instructors separately I would because they deserve 5 stars, the management deserves a 1 star. Everyone that’s written a review was told to by ATP at Dupage on our “Extranet” to write a 5 star review for some pizza so i hope you enjoy this honest review.

Overall I have been very pleased with my experiences. The instructors are very professional and dedicated. The crew style cross country experience was great and really sets this program apart. The facility here at DPA has recently seen an impressive upgrade and is under very good management. I would not hesitate to recommend the program if you are ready to dedicate the time and effort, but you need to be a self-starter who is ready to take responsibility for their training.

ATP has been an incredible experience. Although it is intense fast paced and moves quickly you, you have every resource at your disposal to succeed. You’re assigned a primary flight instructor however every instructor is there to assist you. Your peers and numerous instructors are there to make sure you do not fall behind. ATP has the reputation it does for a reason and that is making incredible pilots.

If getting from zero time to an airline pilot is your goal ATP is the flight school you want to attend. I was able to achieve a goal I didn't think possible in a very short period of time. With the proper work ethic and determination ATP will help you reach your pilot goals. There are some amazing people and instructors at the Chicago location and I wish nothing but the best for all of them.
