We were traveling through the area and reached out to see if we could schedule a flight lesson. The team at Contrail Aviation was fantastic to work with, with great communication from the start, and they were happy to fit my wife and me into their schedule. Tom was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the aircraft. Their Cessna 172 is a basic trainer, but it's an absolute joy to fly. It practically flies itself. The area is absolutely beautiful to fly over. During our lesson we were able to overfly several of the islands, land at Mackinac Island, and continue along the Upper Peninsula shoreline to Drummond Island. It made for an unforgettable experience. I flew with Alex, who quickly assessed where I was as a student pilot and tailored the lesson to my experience level, making it both productive and enjoyable. He also went out of his way to make my wife feel comfortable in the back seat, which we really appreciated. Overall, it was an excellent experience, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Contrail Aviation to anyone looking for quality instruction, aircraft rental, or simply an amazing flying experience in one of the most scenic parts of Michigan.
