I got my private pilots license here, with Brian and Tim. Tim’s experience as an FAA controller adds an invaluable level of knowledge. The school has multiple aircraft for primary training and an in house mechanic helping to minimize delays and rescheduling because of maintenance. The school also has a great family atmosphere that is welcoming and supportive of students at all levels. Additionally the school offers several advanced training opportunities such as high performance and TAA time in a Cessna 182, IFR training in both the 182 or a Piper Cherokee, and tail wheel training for those looking for a challenge. You can also obtain your multi engine and commercial licenses here making it a great one stop shop for pilot training.

I flew with an instructor that was great, however, the owners will act like you don’t exist if you’re a student. The owners would walk in the debrief session and have conversations with my instructor like I wasn’t even in the room. Normally these conversations centered around aircraft that were down for maintenance, which happens quite often. The owners will not congratulate you for milestones, they don’t care about your solo, they don’t care about passing your ground school, they don’t care if you get your certification, they only want your money. Their social media account postings constantly mock and belittle students. They keep raising their rates to an unsustainable level to milk more money from people, and the airplanes are dated and patched together with multicolor panels from who knows where. If it wasn’t for having a great instructor I would have given up on this school very early on. Save your money and possibly your life and move on to another school, this one ain’t it chief!

I needed to obtain my Bi-Annual flight review back in July of 2025 (22 years since I had last flown). It just so happened that I worked with Timothy Caruso, one of Heritage Air's CFIIs. He got me all set up and after a thorough ground school review, went up in their PA-28-140 to complete the process. Great little airplane with surprisingly fantastic avionics. No issues. It was wonderful to get back up in the air. If you need instruction and airplanes, I would recommend Heritage. Warrenton is perfect to fly out of and avoid all the special use airspace headaches around DC. Thank you for a smooth experience and getting me back in the cockpit.

I had an incredible experience at Heritage Air as I started my flight training here. The instructors are truly passionate about teaching. They take the time to make sure you understand and they care about their students’ success. I always felt supported and prepared for the next steps. The aircraft are hangared allowing for them to be well maintained as safety is the number one priority. The owners are really easy to get in touch with and are happy to answer any questions that you may have. If you’re looking for a flight school with a great learning atmosphere and fantastic management this is absolutely the place to go!

I recently earned my tailwheel endorsement through Heritage Air Flight School and had a great experience. My instructor, Tim was knowledgeable, patient, and excellent at teaching the fundamentals of tailwheel flying. Training started in the school’s C-140, which was a perfect aircraft to learn in, and then transitioned smoothly into my own Cessna 172. Tim tailored the instruction to both aircraft and my skill level, making the process efficient, safe, and confidence-building. I highly recommend Heritage Air Flight School and Tim to anyone looking to earn a tailwheel endorsement. Great instruction and an enjoyable experience.
