New review based on my most recent experiences with the personnel, facility and aircraft. The Cessna 172P I flew performed flawlessly for my flight yesterday. Afterwards I worked on the 50 hour maintenance under supervision of their GREAT A & P. Being able to look over the plane that I just flew is a joy. This place is like a home to many, students and pilots alike.

I am very pleased with BEFA. I have been flying with them for 7 months and have enjoyed the well maintained planes and sharp instructors. I had my 6 month check ride yesterday and learned new skills. I have helped with the 50 hour inspections and am confident the planes are in good shape. Overall a great experience and I highly recommend the organization!

Great selection of planes. Cessna 150, 172, 182, 210 High performance, complex, and floatplanes. Cirrus SR20 and 22T, Top Cub and Decathlon tailwheel. Multiple simulators for bad weather One-G and Redbird. Best part is the tach billing and low rates!

They have great, well maintained aircraft. The 2 CFIs I've worked with have both been outstanding pilots but were quite difficult to work with. Both seemed put out having to explain procedural, association specific rules. Both were just not particularly friendly or encouraging. This is in direct contrast to where I trained and received my SEL. The office staff seemed to always be having a bad day and were short and abrupt, nearly every single time over several years. Even the monthly newsletter has a negative slat to it. In nearly every issue there is a statement to the effect of, "If you're not willing to do such and such, then maybe this isn't the club for you." Overall it's a reasonably priced club with great aircraft and an overall unwelcoming attitude.

Great flying association. I got my SEL Private Pilots license through them. They are one of the few clubs that you can train for your Single Engine Sea rating in house. They also charge off of Tach Time as supposed to Hobbs.
