What is a run-up?
The engine and systems check carried out before takeoff at a set power setting, in a marked area clear of taxiing traffic. It exercises the magnetos, the propeller control and the carburetor heat or alternate air, so that a fault shows itself on the ground instead of on climb-out.
Also called Engine run-up, run-up area
That is the whole entry for now. The longer version, with the mechanics and worked examples, is still to be written. See autorotation for how those read once they exist.
