Every flight is well-planned and purposeful, with a great emphasis on safety and thorough debriefs that have helped me improve fast. I'm so lucky that I found CFCR as a tourist who had my intro flight here. I took an intro flight in another flight school and it's nothing compared to CFCR. Marcus, my flight instructor of the day, was so generous to us and very thorougt with everything he did. He explained every single piece of equipment outside and inside of the Cessna172 and I was so shocked by how detail-oriented he was with every explanation. While Marcus was teaching me to do some steep turns and read the avionics, he was so caring and considerate as he was also checking up on my cousin who was the backsitter. He's very patient and kind as I asked if I could try to do some ATC communications and I definitely cringed at myself at times but Marcus was so encouraging and told me what I just did was very advanced and impressive. I was late for an hour as I underestimated LA traffic that evening and they were just so nice and understanding and did not charge me any extra fee for changing the flight time for me. Everyone was so chill and kind here. Definitely one of the best experience one could ever ask for. Thank you so much for everything guys. My experience here literally made my day, even now when I got back to Hong Kong, it made my year!

I trained at the original California Flight Center at Long Beach Airport and earned my private pilot certificate there. What followed was one of the most damaging experiences of my aviation career. As an international student, I trusted the school to properly handle my status and documentation. Instead, when I attempted to extend my stay, I was given documentation that turned out to be invalid (Fake i20) for maintaining my immigration status. This led to serious complications that completely derailed my training and forced me to spend years fixing the situation on my own. This wasn’t a small issue, it cost me years of progress, a significant amount of money and real career momentum. There was a clear lack of professionalism, accountability and basic decency in how students were handled. I was not the only one affected. During that time, I personally saw and later learned of multiple students who lost large sums of money and were left without completing their training when the school filed for bankruptcy and fled with student’s money. The impact on students, especially international students was severe. I eventually recovered, completed my training elsewhere and became a certified flight instructor. But the damage done during that period should never happen to anyone pursuing a career in aviation. Now seeing a school operating again under the California Flight Center name at the same ownership raises serious concerns for me. Based on my experience, I strongly urge prospective students to be extremely cautious. And would avoid this flight school like the plague. Flight training is a major investment, and what happened here had life-altering consequences for more than just one person.

Just got my PPL with them and they’re super great. Planes are good and reliable with round the clock maintenance. Instructors here are super chill and want to see you succeed. Also taco Tuesdays every second Tuesday of each month. Hearing plans of becoming both 141 and 61 friendly for all you future new pilots.

CFCR is a hidden gem at Long Beach Airport. They genuinely care about your success, and it shows in every lesson. The planes are well-maintained, and the instruction is top-notch. I wouldn’t train anywhere else.
