ATP Flight School

I had a very disappointing experience at ATP Flight School. My first instructor was unprofessional and discriminatory, leaving me feeling unsupported and behind from the start. I believe the lack of proper mentorship and communication contributed significantly to my struggles. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this school based on my experience.

The Sacramento location is a Great location, Frederick is amazing to work with. Instructors are all very knowledgeable, each and every single instructor is willing to help you out. Aircraft maintenance is top notch. I finished my program in a little over 8 months which was faster than expected. Stick with the program, show up prepared and you can do the same thing. I had some weather delays towards the end which is uncontrollable but overall it was a great experience. It’s a fast paced program but it is doable to go from 0 to CFII within 12 months, even with delays and personal time. I would definitely recommend ATP.

Waste of time. I went in person to find out how to enroll and they took me on a Rollercoaster. First, they told me I have to contact their loan partner and if approve, they're planned everything with Sallie Mae and I can start the next week. Well I got approved and Sallie Mae told me there's nothing else for me to do. I waited a whole week and my status wasn't changing. Then I called ATP and found out there's an interview, which I didn't pass because my lack of experience with aviation. I went to talk to a different school and got in, but yet Sallie Mae isn't letting me change the name of the school on the loan because they aren't partner. Now I'm stuck with an approve loan from Sallie Mae that's good for nothing and lower my chances of getting another school loan. If you're trying to apply for this school. Don't go in, call instead (it'll foward you to a call center), because the workers there doesn't know what they're talking about.

I recently completed the ATP Flight School ACPP 50 ME (credit private) program. ATP Flight School is a fast paced program for self-starters who are disciplined and dedicated to the process. They know what it takes to get you from "zero to hero" in a short amount of time. It should be understood that ATP is NOT a "pay to play program." Just because you are paying a lot of money, doesn't mean you are entitled to making it through; it still takes hard work and you must demonstrate to the instructors that you have what it takes to be a safe pilot with sound judgement. With that being said, it's not for everyone. Some folks simply need more time and attention. ATP provides students with the resources and tools to become successful pilots and instructors; what's done with those resources is up to the individual. I highly recommend ATP for those that can dedicate maximum effort with minimal distractions towards this great program. Hey, if being an airline pilot were easy, there wouldn't be a shortage, right? Good luck and don't forget to have fun!
