I’d recommend looking elsewhere for flight training. Montgomery-Gibbs feels increasingly overcrowded as well as the schools here, which often leads to what looks like disorganized traffic management and questionable safety standards in the air. Based on my observations, you’ll find a much more professional and safer environment at El Cajon.

This is the worst possible flight school you can go to other than Learn to Fly. If you want to fly in old planes and instructors who are only there for hours with no passion, this flight school is for you! There is absolutely no syllabus for PPL and the owner has too big of an ego to admit his wrong. Go ahead and get into debt with them. By the way their Veteran Benefits like VR&E do not work. STAY AWAY!!!

I had a very rewarding, professional, and fun experience with Flex Air Flight School. I attended the KMYF school in San Diego to attain my initial CFI certification using my Veteran Readiness and Employment benefit from the VA. I worked with Jack Yu as my primary flight instructor and highly recommend him. He was extremely knowledgable on what it takes to be an instructor pilot, the FARs, the Certification Standards, Advisory Circulars, local training areas, and how to establish a productive learning environment in the air and on the ground. He worked with me to get to the “standard” and would not allow me to proceed to my FAA Practical Exam early. Additionally, the office manager, Kenzie Cooper worked miracles to ensure aircraft were available. The other flight instructors were extremely friendly and collaborative, sharing their learnings and insights freely when asked. Their Veteran Liaison, Eddie Erdmann was also amazing and advocating for Veterans while supporting them and their access to benefits. Overall, highly recommend Flex Air and Jack Yu!

Great flight school! The whole team is great! The CEO, Veteran Mentors, Base Manager and Flight Instructors make up this great team. If you’re willing to put in the time and effort, you can succeed and they will help you along the way. What I like about this flight school is that they actually care about your success and if you need to reach out to anyone here for help along your aviation journey, they are really willing to help. Shout out to my flight instructor, Jack Yu, for being such an excellent and patient flight instructor. He has many years of experience and is a wealth of knowledge. Also, shout out to Kenzie Cooper for the flight instruction and all the help in the background on the day-to-day tasks at Flex Air. Staff here is approachable and professional. Highly recommend Flex Air!

I was able to go from Zero hours to a CFI/I with my multi engine rating in almost exactly 12 months on budget. I won't lie and say there were no bumps in the road, but at the end of the day, I achieved my dreams and Flex Air made it happen. As long as you are willing to meet them halfway, I never saw myself or others go unsupported. All of the instructors were wildly flexible to make the program work for each individual. Even at the end of my training, when my schedule was getting harder and shorter notice, my needs were always met and together we took care of business. I recommend Flex Air to any aspiring pilot, especially if you are coming from the military on the SkillBridge program.
