Aside from many of the instructors I've trained with there, the flight school has turned into a good old boys club. Avoid the chief pilot (Dayton) and director of operations (Robyn) if you can, they scratch each other's backs and aren't the nice people they make themselves out to be. Also thought the owner would address the harassment and bullying complaints I made about the chief pilot, but he refused to listen to the recorded calls I had as proof. Its also troubling when the chief pilot says I can't log safety pilot time unless the aircraft is IFR certified (also recorded on call). Thought I'd post this as fair warning about my experience at the school. Safe flying!

I have been both a renter and student of RMFS for around 2 years now. I got my instrument rating here after changing flight schools. The value of this flight school is clear, affordable rates and instructors who are true aviators. The difference I have seen at RMFS is an instructor pool that cares about the love of flying. There are a solid mix of young instructors and experienced GA pilots who can offer really great perspectives on training challenges and their wealth of experience flying in the challenging airspace of Colorado. Some specific folks that really make a difference are, Matt Beyer who creates safety resources for the school through his YouTube and website, and Robyn Fung the schools manager. Since taking over Robby has put in a lot of effort to standardize procedures and ensure fleet consistency so that training is more consistent when switching between aircraft. I’d also like to call out the “extracurricular” programs the school offers from CFI/CFII study groups led by their assistant chief Jordan Gauge and other events like “all school ground” that bring the flight school together to go through airport changes, and other ground topics of importance (like weather changes as we approach winter or cold start procedures). RMFS is a flight school full of instructors and students who love flying and aren’t just showing up to fill in their log books. Thank you, RMFS.

Came here for my first discovery flight and had a wonderful and welcoming experience, from start to finish. Everyone was cool and profesional in the office, and my CFI was awesome! Let me take the controls and radio to tower! It was more than I could possibly imagine. I would definitely recommend RMFS if you want value and a quality experience.

Rocky Mountain Flight School is an awesome place to train. The community is incredibly supportive, the instructors are great, and the aircraft rates are very reasonable. You can tell the owner and manager genuinely care about the school and the people in it. Just an all-around great experience.

I absolutely love training at RMFS. The vibe I get from all the staff and other students is professional, down to earth, and supportive. The instruction I’ve had here has been excellent. I did a lot of research before picking this school, and this it is by far the best value you’re going to find. Not only is it more affordable compared to a lot of flight schools, but the quality of the instruction you receive here is truly great. I feel like I’m going to be a safer, better pilot when I make it to the airlines for choosing this school, as opposed to the “fast track” expensive program I was initially planning on doing.
